Death had a funeral eons ago,
I was there for the ultimate show,
I care not for the stars above,
For I was once Death’s lover alive.
We all gathered to bid her farewell,
Dream and Destiny, they all followed the bell,
That tolled only for the greatest of Deaths,
For the death of an endless is the death of us rest.
Darkness abound, the realm of dream,
Its boundary with death no one can deem,
I’ve been here before, I know it for sure,
I followed her once, I needed to see more.
With a cough and a splutter, the procession began,
Everyone was there, every God and every man,
Death was there, her reincarnation too,
This one’s dress was red, not a dark blue.
Death and I once loved, it’s true,
It felt like Cupid across us blew,
But we fell out so bad we couldn’t mend,
And she said she never would see me again.
So for centuries I search and I searched,
A mere mortal to live forever, I was cursed,
My lover had left and left me to live,
But to see death once more, all I would give.
And finally, I find her, the heart no longer beats,
This feels like the most divine of defeats,
For never can I complete my life in full,
Fall on my dagger or my life strings I pull.
The new death did approach with a choice to me,
To run forever, or to die; forever be free,
I decided to live, I had wished to die by my lover,
The days thus pass, I’m trapped, alive forever.
